We explore wild places, experience different cultures and connect with the people and landscapes that make each destination unique. Through authentic fly fishing adventures, we aim to leave our guests with more than great fishing stories — a deeper appreciation for the places we visit and a genuine desire to protect them.

Justin Webber | Founder, Headwaters Fly Shop & Travel
Fly fishing has been a big part of Justin Webber’s life for as long as he can remember. What started as a love for fishing grew into something much bigger — a passion for exploring new places, chasing fish in wild country and sharing those experiences with good people.

In his early twenties, Justin travelled to the USA, where he trained as an Orvis fly fishing instructor. It was an experience that helped shape the way he saw fly fishing, not just as a sport, but as a way to connect with people, different cultures and the natural world.

Life eventually took Justin in other directions, and he spent a number of years away from the fly fishing industry. But the passion never really left. Headwaters Fly Shop was born from a desire to get back to what he loved, create something of his own and help grow the fly fishing community in his hometown of Mackay, Queensland.

What began as a small independent fly shop has grown into a much bigger vision. Justin wants Headwaters to become one of the world's most respected names in hosted fly fishing travel. Not by running the biggest trips or visiting the most destinations, but by doing things properly — bringing together great people, knowledgeable local guides, remarkable fishing and genuine experiences that go well beyond the water.

At heart, Justin is still just a bloke who loves fishing, exploring new places and sharing a good adventure. He believes the best trips aren't necessarily measured by the number or size of fish caught, but by the people you meet, the places you see and the stories you bring home.
That's what Headwaters is all about, and it's the foundation of everything Justin hopes to build.

Ryan Walton
Ryan Walton brings his own perspective, personality and genuine enthusiasm for fishing, adventure and the outdoors to the Headwaters.
With a laid-back approach, a curious mind and a love for a good story, Ryan helps keep the conversations real, entertaining and full of the kind of banter you'd expect around a campfire or a day on the water.
With a focus on freshwater and Ryan's knowledge of our region is extensive and he lives it daily from chasing Tarpon and Barra to Sooties and Saratoga he lives and breathes life on the fly!Â

Peter Behrens is a passionate angler and adventurer who feels right at home on the water. With a genuine love for fishing, exploring new destinations and sharing the experience with others, Pete brings a relaxed, down-to-earth approach to every trip. Whether chasing fish in remote locations or enjoying a few laughs with good mates, he's all about making the most of every adventure.
